ERICK SCHIELE

With over 25 years of experience in the film and television industry, Erick has been a traditional artist, CG artist, designer, writer and director. Erick was born in New York City and raised in Connecticut, growing up next door to the main characters in Billion Dollar Babies – the Alice Cooper Band. As a child in the early 1970s, spending time with the band had an indelible impact on his life, and continues to inspire his creative journey. Erick studied fine art at Washington & Jefferson College, which took him abroad to study painting. Upon his return to NYC, he worked for commercial directors, while also designing sets and costumes for film directors. This opened the door for him to attend the Master's program for film and stage design at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. After receiving a graduate degree in 1995, Erick went on to work for several top directors, including Abel Ferrara, Wayne Wang, Melvin Van Peebles and Matthew Broderick. Upon his arrival in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, Erick shifted his traditional artistic skill set to the emerging digital and 3D platform, allowing him to converge many of his spatial and artistic talents in an entirely new direction. Erick spent the 2000s designing titles for Eli Roth, and working as a 3D artist on tentpole films including “I, Robot”, “Oblivion”, ”Ghost Rider” and “Iron Man”. Erick also spent two years working on “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow” as both an artist and a designer. Within that time period, Erick also studied stage directing at an LA based theatre, directing the award winning short films “Missing Mia”, “Insecurity” and “Dark Bar” as well as writing and developing over six feature scripts. He lives with his wife and their 12-year-old daughter in Los Angeles, and also co-hosts a film podcast called “Martini Giant”.
